I’ve been talking for a long time about how Maddie’s got STATUS! I tell ya, now both of my girls are growing up lucky. The flight across the ocean was as delightful as can be mostly because they got a good night sleep! Gotta love those business class seats that fully recline. I do want you to notice however WHO is sleeping in those seats. Let’s do the math on this…. 1 father, 1 mother, 2 little girls and there are THREE seats. Hmf! Meelie and I shared part of the time and then Andy and Meelie shared part of the time.
Gosh, it still seems to me that our dear Maddie is STILL getting the sweet end of the deal!
Welcome Home Girls!
The girl is flying A LOT! This summer alone, she will have earned over 27,000 miles with United. She knows that clouds are beautiful and they look soft, but they are super bumpy and make the plane jump. It’s a rare sight to see a rainbow though and she knew that… see below – apparently she couldn’t believe it.

The day after we arrived in Tucson we made our way to the Westin La Paloma which is a favorite hangout during the summer. We were there for the 4th of July so we swam, ate great food and of course watched fireworks. It was a really good time – relaxing for us all!
One of my favorite photos is of Amelia eating corn on the cob. We ate the corn, but she enjoyed the cob and enjoyed making the mess that went along with it!
Maddie fell in love with mom’s dog, Bear and loved heading to the barn with Grandma to feed the horses…

Maddie’s got STATUS ya know.
Maddie’s got STATUS because she lives in Shanghai……
Maddie’s got STATUS because she thinks bunny ears are cute……
Maddie’s got STATUS because she eats at restaurants where they give you a flashlight if you can’t see……
Maddie’s got STATUS because she stays at hotels on famous rivers around the world……

Maddie’s got STATUS because she spends much of her life riding around on luggage carts in airports…..
We bought plane tickets for summer travel today and used our complimentary vouchers to upgrade to first class. This is how the conversation went today:
Nice United Lady: Your three year old won’t have any vouchers.
Me: But she has had her own number for a year and a half.
Nice United Lady: But she doesn’t have STATUS.
Me: Have you checked? Look it up!
Nice United Lady: I’ve been here for ten years and this is the first time I’ve met a three year old with Premier status.
Me: Welcome to our world!!!
